The Monks of Mellonwah are a four-piece alternative funk and indie Sydney band. The depth and variety of influences driving each member has led to the formation of a plausible and unique sound, blending elements of classic blues & rock in Hendrix, Zeppelin, Floyd, and the Chili Peppers with more modern time 'indie-rock' in the Raconteurs and Arctic Monkeys. Their first E.P., Stars are Out, is testament to such a unique blend, and was highly praised by both Engineer/Producer Mathew Laurence and CD masterer Leon Zervos of Studio 301 Sydney. The EP is of exceptional recording and production quality and is something the boys are very proud of.
Since the recording, The Monks have gone from strength to strength, developing an electrifying and atmospheric live act, supporting and headlining at a wide range of well respected music venues right across Sydney, including The Annandale Hotel, Candy's Apartment, World Bar, Manly Fishos, and The Lansdowne Hotel. They have received a huge level of positive feedback through their tight and lively performances and songwriting of such maturity.
